Details
Mesly Homestay occupies a sheltered location on Pulau Yanggelo, which lies off the far western tip of Gam. (See the map below.)
Two over-water private bungalows are offered.
The bungalows sleep two on raised beds. The usual mosquito net and bedding are provided, and room light switches and power outlets for charging devices are fitted.
Meals are served in Mesly Homestay’s over-water dining room. Free drinking water, and tea and coffee making supplies are always available there.
Guests share a two room, tiled floor bathroom building. A western style toilet, dip mandi (bucket) bathing and a mirror are provided.
Electricity is provided by generator and is available from sunset to around midnight.
Mesly Homestay only receives a weak and erratic phone signal. Expect to be offline while at the homestay.
Kapisawar village is about twenty minutes away by boat. Basic provisions and a data connection can be found there.
Please do take all your inorganic rubbish away with you when you leave. As everywhere in Raja Ampat, there is no safe local waste disposal. Any plastic, batteries and other inorganic waste you leave behind will only contribute to the trashing of paradise.
Your hosts only have a little English, so if you don’t speak Bahasa Indonesia, then bringing an offline translation app or phrasebook is recommended to ease communication.
Transport / Getting there
Waisai transfers are by longboat. A single transfer (from OR to Waisai) costs IDR 1,300,000
The cost is shared by passengers (max 4).
Activities
There’s great snorkelling around Yanggelo. Be sure to bring your snorkelling gear.
Piaynemo, the Pam Islands and the islands of West Waigeo are also accessible by day trips. Your hosts can provide these and other excursions on request.
The surrounding bird-filled jungle and quiet bay, and the lack of phone and internet connection makes Mesly Homestay a perfect place to unwind and get reacquainted with the natural world.
