Details
Dorey Homestay is located near Yenbuba village on Pulau Mansuar.
Two VIP bungalows and two private bungalows sit in the shade of beachside trees.
All bungalows sleep two on raised beds. Sheets, pillows blanket and mosquito nets are provided. Bungalow verandahs are equipped with table and chair settings.
Meals are served in Dorey Homestay’s sand-floored, beachside dining room. Tea and coffee making supplies and drinking water are always freely available to guests there.
VIP bungalows have ensuite bathrooms with western style toilets, showers, mirrors and shelving. (Note that the electricity must be on for the bathroom water pumps to operate.)
Private bungalow guests share a 4 room bathroom building. Two rooms contain western style toilets. The two bathrooms have showers constructed from PVC pipe (see the photos in the gallery above). Tub and ladle bathing is also provided for the times when the water pump is not working because of lack of electricity.
Electricity is supplied from generator between sunset and about midnight. If you are willing to pay for the extra fuel required, then electricity can be supplied as needed.
Dorey Homestay receives a strong 4G signal which supports a data connection ii you have the right Telkomsel plan.
Basic supplies are available in the nearby village of Yenbuba, which is an easy ten minute walk away.
Please do take any inorganic trash you create away with you when you leave, because there is no safe waste management infrastructure in Raja Ampat.
Only a little English is spoken at Dorey Homestay. Bringing a translation app or phrasebook is recommended.

Activities
Excellent snorkelling
Bring your snorkelling gear, because great snorkelling is available all around.
Dorey Homestay can provide any kind of snorkelling or sightseeing trip you want.
Walking sharks (Kalabia) can usually be found amid the mangroves to the east of the homestay.
Dorey Homestay is named for the lagoon (dore) formed by the sandbanks in front of the homestay. The sandflats at front of Dorey Homestay – although perhaps not much to look at – are home to hosts of marine creatures. When exploring them or the mangroves nearby, please do your best to take the shortest route possible and always walk in the footsteps of those that may have gone before you, as compaction of the sand will destroy the homes of the many creatures that live and breed there.
Yenbuba village is a short walk away, and is well worth exploring. The snorkelling beneath Yenbuba jetty is amazing.
Mansuar Trekking
There are jungle paths that join Manusar’s villages. The path to the west crosses some steep ridges to reach the village of Yenbekwan, which lies a bit over a kilometre to the west of Dorey Homestay. There are side trails that lead to high vantage points on the coast, and the jungle is alive with birdsong in the early morning. You might need a guide to find the way, but it’s possible to continue westward past Yenbekwan to the low saddle between the north and south coasts of Mansuar. Crossing there will take you past an inland lake to the south coast village of Sauwandarek. There’s great snorkelling at Sauwandarek too, but unless you’re keen for a long day, you might want to organise boat transport to or from Sauwandarek to avoid having to walk both ways.
At low tide, extensive sandbanks join the islands of Mansuar, Ransiwor and Kri and make walking between them possible. Even if you don’t cross to the neighbouring islands the banks are worth exploring. Scores of interesting creatures get trapped in small pools, making their discovery and observation really easy. Crossing to Kri will open up the possibility of other long walks too, but be aware of tide times otherwise you might have to organise boat transport back to Dorey Homestay.
