Details

Wobbegong Homestay shares a sheltered eastern Gam cove with neighbour Yenwar Homestay.

Located at the entrance to Kabui Bay, Wobbegong Homestay’s four private VIP bungalows lie in the shade of beachside trees.

The bungalows sleep two on raised beds. An extra mattress can be provided if required, and all the standard bedding, towels, and mosquito nets are supplied. Bedding for a third guest can be provided on request.

All bungalows have ensuite bathrooms, with western-style toilets, showers, and bucket bathing.

All bungalows have glazed windows and lockable doors. The covered bungalow verandahs have ocean views, and are equipped with table and chairs.

Meals are served in Wobbegong Homestay’s beachside dining shelter. Drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always freely available to guests there.

Electricity is supplied from a generator that operates from sunset until around midnight.

A variable phone signal is available at Wobbegong Homestay. It’s often quite weak, and a data connection is not usually available.

Only a little English is spoken at Wobbegong  Homestay: If you don’t speak Bahasa Indonesia, then bringing an offline translation app or phrasebook would be best.

The nearest villages are Friwen and Yenbeser. Both are about 15 minutes away by boat, and basic supplies are available there. Stronger 4G signals are also usually available at Yenbeser and Friwen.

Please don’t leave any inorganic trash at Wobbegong Homestay. Inorganic waste (especially plastic) that is left at homestays will simply contribute to Raja Ampat’s growing rubbish problem.

Transport / Getting there

One way transfers between Wobbegong Homestay and Waisai cost IDR 500,000. Transfers are by longboat that can carry a maximum of 4 people. Cost is shared by boat passengers.

Activities

Bring your snorkelling gear, because great snorkelling is available around Wobbegong Homestay. Dolphins, turtles, and wobbegong sharks and are often seen around the homestay. If you are especially lucky, you might also encounter dugongs.

Kabui Bay’s attractions are easily accessible, and, like all homestays, Wobbegong can provide snorkelling and sightseeing trips as desired.
