Details

Moria Homestay offers three VIP bungalows on Kri’s northern shore.

All bungalows have an ensuite bathroom with western-style toilet.

The bungalows sit on the white sands of the Kri north coast beach. They are shaded by overhanging trees and have ocean views to Gam and Waigeo. Each bungalow has a covered verandah with chairs and a table.

Bungalow bedrooms sleep two on a raised double bed. Sheets, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets are supplied, and room light switch and power outlets fitted. An extra raised bed can be provided for a third guest if needed.

Meals are served on the bungalow verandahs and free drinking water, tea and coffee are always available there.

Electricity is available from sunset to midnight. If you’re willing to pay for the extra generator fuel required, then electricity can be provided as needed.

Moria Homestay receives a good 4G signal from the nearby Yenbuba tower.

The nearest village to Moria Homestay is Yenbuba on Mansuar. Yenbuba is about a ten minute boat ride away,  and basic supplies are can be purchased there. It’s best to bring all essential items with you. Please though – take all your inorganic trash away with you: If you leave it at Kri you’ll just contribute to the rubbishing of paradise.

Only a little English is spoken at Moria Homestay, so if you have no Bahasa Indonesia, bringing a translation app or phrasebook would be a good idea.

Transport / Getting there

Transfers between the Moria Homestay and Waisai cost IDR 800,000

The longboat used can carry up to 4 passengers. (A larger boat will be arranged at extra cost if need be.)

Activities

Bring snorkelling gear, because the reefs of northern Kri are renowned.

Moria Homestay can provide snorkelling and sightseeing trips on demand.

Hiking and beach walking

In addition to the jungle paths that lead to the panoramic views from Kri’s heights, long hikes can be made at low tide. You can walk the whole north shore of Kri, cross the sandbanks to Ransiwor and/or Yenbuba at Mansuar.

Be aware of the tides if you plan on walking both ways.

It’s possible to continue west along Mansuar, and then to cross the island past a lake and finish in Sauwandarek village on Mansuar’s south coast, where there’s also excellent snorkelling.

If that sounds like fun, then you’ll need a guide to keep you on the trail in Mansuar, a day with a morning low tide, and to arrange a pickup from Sauwandarek.
