Between Yenanas Paradise and Monkairi Homestay (from which it split in early 2015) Pak Ones Makusi’s Batu Lima Homestay has one two room bungalow on land and two beachside private bungalows.

Bedding in all rooms include mattresses for two, with sheets and a light blanket and pillows and bolsters. Multiple power outlets and room light switches are also provided. All bungalows have verandahs with ocean views and are supplied with small tables and bench seating.

A dining room on the beach has large table and bench seating and drinking water, tea and coffee are always freely available there for guests.

All guests share a bathroom building which houses a concrete floored dip mandi bathroom and western style toilet in separate rooms.

Batu Lima Homestay provides several beachside seats set in shady locations from which you can watch the sunrise and take in the fabulous blue views of Yenanas Beach.

Electricity is provided by generator and is available all night and Batu Lima usually receives a strong phone signal.

Yenbeser village is only a five minute boat ride away for basic supplies, and can also be reached by a walk trail at low tide. The walk crosses the shallows of the Dore Atri lagoon where there’s a lot of small coral: Always do your best to follow in the footsteps of people who’ve gone before you to minimise environmental damage. To help reduce Raja Ampat’s growing rubbish problem, it’s also best to take any inorganic trash you create away with you when you leave.

English is spoken at Batu Lima Homestay.

The jungle at Monkairi is also inhabited by a host of other birds and animals like the nocturnal cuscus which you can observe at your leisure.

We stayed in Batu Lima for the whole week from May 1st 2017. It was a low season, so the homestay was all for ourselves. It has a very lucky position: not too far from Waisai and not too far from diving/snorkeling spots. It has a long white sand beach, at the end of which there is a diving resort, so no problems joining them for the diving/snorkeling trips. They also have a first aid kit, which can be useful. The coral reef along the beach can easily compete with the famous snorkeling spots in Raja Ampat. Just in front of our homestay we spotted all sorts of fish, turtles, sharks, even murena, and of course all sorts of corals hard and soft. The family we stayed with was lovely and kind, the kids are just adorable. Pity we could not communicate with them too much, but they have a friend guide who speaks decent english. They picked us up from Waisai and brought us back there, organised some nice trips for us too. Rosa is a fantastic cook. We were amazed by the variety of food and there were plenty of it, much more than we could eat. I am still dreaming about the breakfast and afternoon cakes. The view on the blue calm waters from our hammocks was unforgettable. If we return, we will definitely going to come back to Batu Lima.

Kami tinggal di Batu Lima pd tgl 10 April – 14 April 2017. It was great!
Pantainya sgt ramah dan aman utk anak kami yg baru berusia 6 thn. Pantainya bersih dan Lautnya sgt jernih. Anda dpt bersnorkling.
Kalau anda punya tujuan akan menyelam, anda tdk perlu kuatir, krn Batu Lima bertetangga dgn Biodiversity Dive Centre. Cukup berjalan kaki sj.
Pak Ones dan keluarganya (the owner), sgt ramah dan memberi pelayanan yg baik.
Makanannya enak.

This was our second homestay and we ended up staying 4 nights in March 2017, during which we were the only guests. It was everything we had imagined and more. The family is great, attentive and super friendly and treated us like part of the family.
The food is amazing, with breakfast, lunch, cake in the afteernoon (!) and dinner. We had enough food to feed 5 people and the choice was really good, if you enjoy spicy food.
The room is basic, but clean and nicely taken care of / decorated, as are the toilet and shower. You actually do have a western style shower here, in addition to the dip mandi.
The reef just in front of the homestay is nice and we saw small rays, sharks and a loooot of colourful fish and corals snorkeling. From the hammoks we even saw a huge flying ray jumping out of the water.
If you want to go diving you can do so with the good biodiversity resort next to the homestay, from where you can also rent kayaks to explore the sorroundings a bit more (highly recommended).
We called the owners a couple days before arriving and they organized the transfer for us to get there from our other homestay.
    This is truly a paradise!

Batu Lima, a piece of paradise! We loved our 3 night stay here. The location is beautiful, right on a gorgeous beach, the rooms are comfy and the family that runs it is among the friendliest people you’ll meet around Raja Ampat. The food was delicious too – we found it was better than in the other guest houses we stayed in the region. A great place to relax! There’s some nice snorkeling right outside, with the option of diving with Biodiversity resort nearby.

Like some reviews before wrote: WHOEVER COMES FIRST GETS THE ROOM, REGARDLESS OF BOOKING VIA THIS SITE.
Not all is true that writes here about this place. There is only one private bungalow, not two. We were three friends traveling and had reservations (1 bungalow and 1 room), but when we came nobody knew we are coming. All was full. We showed them our confirmation booking, but did not helped since all was full. And english is very poor here, we were not able to communicate this issue. Eventually they emptied one room in neighbouring homestay and put two matrasess for us, our luggage had to be outside since there was no more room left inside. Next day when a room was vacant, we moved to two rooms.
This incident repeated while our stay with some other guests that booked the same homestay via dive resort and they had to move to the neighboring village.
The plus side is fresh water in the bathroom.
The food was tasty, but my friend ate some fish and got sick. I guess they were leftovers.
The beach is beautiful, but there is really nothing to do here but snorkel and scubadive with the neighbouring resort. Little bit boring.
I would not come back here if I am in Raja again.

Me,my husband and our 2yrs old son Has booked to a private bungalow for the 3rd-8th of december but when we arrived There is a solo traveller staying on the private bungalow, and i mention about our booking but he put us on the shared room which we need to have our things seperated from our room. What i think i guest he just gave the private room whoever comes first n pick the room, cos its cost the same with the shared room, luckily the guy check out the next day so we moved to the private room.. A bit hastic but i cant complained with everything ..

We enjoyed our five days with nobody else in the guesthouse,, we have planty of food for lunch and dinner, food is fantastic,we also asked to have noodle or fried rice for breakfast instead of cake and sweet breakfast.

The reef is just amazing .. my husband spotted alot of black tip sharks and the biggest turtle he ever saw and also the davil ray.
And everyday in the morning till evening we have spent our day in the restaurant lying on the hammock spotted big group of dolphins every morning and evening.

The beach just so beautiful cant get enough of taking pictures.. the sand so fine and clean beach.
We also went to see the bird of paradise 😁 And My son have a good time too playing with the owner grandson..

Our stay are lovely so am so recommended this place for whoever wanna have a quite stay and beautiful beach.

Visited 3 homestays during my trip and batu lima is my favorite so far. Clean and cozy bungalows (have big towel and blanket provided, which I didn’t see in two other homestays). Fantastic cooking with snacks in between meals. Awesome snorkeling 20 m from the shore and lovely long quiet sandy beach. Positive owners, perfect place for me, will be back!

We stayed at Batu Lima in September 2016 for 6 nights and I can only reaffirm what others here have written here. AMAZING location, SPECTACULAR reef right out the front and very WELCOMING family. Pak Ones and Mozard took us on two extremely memorable day trips to Aborek and Kabui passage, as well as short trips to Friwen Wall and an evening boat trip to see walking sharks. We were also invited to explore their nearby village. The whole family was very hospitable, the food was superb and abundant and the rooms and facilities super tidy and comfortable. We also did a bird of paradise trek, which was the only disappointing part of the stay (birds were too far away to see properly). I cannot compare to other homestays as we only stayed here, but I definitely recommend staying at Batu Lima for a few nights. Staying here was by far the highlight of our holiday and we are already planning to return.

What a beautiful place with wonderful hosts! The cooking was delicious and food plentiful. Even the dogs were beautiful and sweet. The whole place was clean and neat, decorated with wonderful ephemeral art comprising shells, coral and even whale bones. The coral and fish were amazing. Even got to see birds of paradise on a guided trek. Horn bills too.
The only thing that was a problem for me, but no one else in my group, was the mattress – it was a foam one and not a spring one – bit too soft for my back. So I slept on the floor. But I would definitely do it again to stay there!

    Dear Mr.Ones Makusi,

Me and my two friends from Czech Republic and France stayed for 5 nights 22-27 October 2016. We were really impressed with the cleanliness of the homestay. Mr.Ones and his family welcomed and treated us like their family. The food was so tasty. You will never be hungry here as they provide yummy indonesian snacks two times a day. Also, you can do snorkeling around the homestay and nice as well. Thank you for your great service and hospitality. We are sure that we will come back one day.

I stayed with Batu Lima home stay from November 13, 2015 until November 18, 2015 and I would highly recommend anyone to stay with them. The whole family was so friendly and accommodating. The property was spectacular and there was beautiful snorkeling just 10 meters from their Bungalows. At night you can even go do Snorkeling and watch plankton light up the water. I was traveling alone so the value that they gave me was a lot better than staying at the expensive dive resorts. Of course I was also there to do some Scuba so I did it through Biodiversity dive center which is about 2 minutes walk along the beach from the home stay, the dive center offers the most competitive price in the whole national park, their equipment are all in amazing condition but best of all their dive guides were so professional, funny, and super friendly. For about 2 days I was the only person in the home stay but they gave me enough food to feed a family, (And I’m North American so we normally eat a lot anyways, but even I thought it was so generous). Everything was caught fresh and best of all, it was local authentic cooking by the grandmother so you know it was delicious! I cannot say enough for all their kids who helped me with everything I needed, they even went to the village by boat at night when it was pitch back so that they can buy me credit for my phone to call home. The bungalows are never locked but I never had any issued with leaving my expensive camera gear and lenses there while I went out for the whole day on Scuba trips. The family is very humble and trust worthy. The family is also fortunate enough to have a gas powered generator so you can charge your gadgets for the next day! All and all, an amazing experience, one that I cant say enough about and a great alternative if you are budget conscious. Raja is an expensive place after all.

  4. PLEASE NOTE: We thought it only fair to initially set Batu Lima Homestay’s rating at 5 stars on the basis of existing guest reviews mentioning Pak Ones, Batu Lima’s owner. Batu Lima Homestay was founded in 2015 when the partners at Monkairi Homestay decided to go their separate ways and split that establishment. You can see the reviews mentioning Pak Ones’ on Monkairi’s page. (Those reviews are dated before July 2015)
