This form is for bookings only - you can not use it to check availability. Here is why

Formerly known as Keruirim Homestay, Oridek Homestay has five rooms available in two beachside bungalows.

A three room bungalow has a large room with an adjoining verandah with a small table and some chairs on one side of a central passage. Another two rooms are on the opposite side of the passage. A shared verandah deck faces the beach. The adjacent two room bungalow has adjoining rooms sharing an enclosed beach facing verandah. All rooms sleep two on mattresses on the floor, and sheets, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets provided. Power outlets for charging devices are provided on both bungalow verandahs.

Meals are served in large beachside dining shelter with a long table, bench seating and great views of Oridek’s fabulous bay. Drinking water, tea and coffee making facilities are freely available there for guests.

All guests share a three roomed bathroom building.  All rooms have pebble floors. Two are dip mandi bathrooms and the third houses a western style toilet.

Oridek Homestay receives a good mobile phone signal which is capable of supporting a data connection. A generator runs from sunset to midnight to provide lighting and the ability to charge devices.

Oridek is a fifteen minute boat ride away from the villages of Yenbeser and Friwen where there are small shops for basic supplies.

Only a little English is spoken at Oridek, so a phrasebook would be handy if you don’t speak Bahasa Indonesia. Kordiris Homestay is a short walk away and help translating can be had there if necessary.

As everywhere else in Raja Ampat, there’s no safe waste disposal for inorganic waste like plastic and dead batteries on Gam. To avoid contributing to Raja Ampat’s growing trash problem, please take all your inorganic trash away with you when you leave

Transport / Getting there

Waisai transfers are by speedboat, and cost IDR 500,000 for each way. The boat can carry up to 5 people and trip cost is shared by passengers.

Located on a beautiful, sheltered bay with seagrass shallows and coral around the five islets clustered on the point to the west, Oridek has great snorkelling at the door. If you’re lucky, you’ll encounter one of the dugongs that can occasionally be seen in the bay at front of the homestay. Flocks of frigate birds often gather offshore to fish (and steal food from each other and other birds) and sea eagles are regularly seen.

The jungle behind Oridek can also be explored and is home to cuscus, squirrel-like tree rats, black king cockatoos and bush fowl that build huge nest mounds in the forest. Behind the jungle lies the Dore Dor lagoon – a winding waterway that separates the islet that Oridek Homestay occupies from Gam Island proper. The Dore Dor is full of birdlife and fish and well worth exploring.

Diving is available by arrangement with the adjacent Kordiris Homestay.

Snorkeling trips can be arranged and Oridek has four sets of snorkelling gear available for guests. (It’s a good idea to bring your own though, in case Oridek’s don’t fit.)

Oridek cultural tours

Oridek Homestay also specialises in introducing you to local culture. In addition to visits to dance and music performances and local craft producers, Oridek can arrange cultural tours to suit any interest.
